I find that highly offensive. I was diagnosed with Thyroid Disease when I was 17. It's not fun to go through this kind of disease.
Grow up you dick.

Well it depends what you mean by excuses. I had always weighed between 7 and 8 stones, and was a normal body weight as a child. I was fit but unhealthy and at risk of developing future health problems later in life associated with being underweight. I ate like a pig but just had a fast metabolism and burned off fat easily. I then developed polycystic ovary syndrome, unknowingly, and my weight balloned to 11 stones, despite eating healthily and exercising. Once the problem was established I was given appropriate intervention and my weight is now a healthy 9 stones. But through it all I was judged for being too skinny and judged for being too fat. We live in a world obssessed with weight and whether you are under or over weight you are putting your life in danger. You should never look at fat people and just assume that they are lazy and cant be bothered to loose weight - some people do have illnesses that make them overweight, and make weight loss difficult. Food is also an addiction and just like drinking, smoking and taking drugs it is just as hard to stop eating. If not even harder because it is essential for life. Would you deprive yourself of something you enjoy, even though you know that one day it may kill you?

That's a bit of a broad question, since overweightness and obesity are not as easy as to deal with as you think. They are actually epidemics. These people are addicted to food, and fear exercise. Whatever their "excuse" may be it's a serious situation and they can't get out of it alone. The truth is they need a doctor etc. to help them get rid of these "poor excuses." Many kids rely of food because it's their only friend, this may sound like another excuse to you, but it's the truth. The scenario is much easier to understand only if you've been overweight youself, and it doesn't sound like it. Give at least some empathy towards those people and don't judge them as fat=lazy, therefore=more excuses.
Not to mention fast food restuarant advertisements and cheap deals contribute. The reason the whole population is getting fat is thnx to society, not just fat parents etc.

Im not overweight, but Hypothyroidism is a big probelm when it comes to not being able to lose weight, if you actually knew anything about the thyroid gland you would know that the thyroid controlls almost everything in the body and all the hormones, including metabolism.

I don't have a weight problem, only because I take Adderall which is great for controlling my appetite, and I only take in 1200 calories a day.

Are all parents of overweight kids overweight too? I'm not sure what you would consider a good excuse..... you just can't accept the overweight issue, the excuse is just the fuel on the fire. If this were not true, you would not care so much what their reasoning is. I'm not a big fan of extremely thin bodies - or of fake boobs or gobs of make-up - not healthy either - BUT, I don't ask why or how because I do not care. I'm not perfect, I'm not better than anyone, and I'm not insecure about my self - are you??? Maybe it would help if you minded your own business.....

Because judgmental skinny people see only what they want to see. There is no excuse for not being healthy and weighing 98 pounds is what you seem to say. Well i'll tell you what you pay my grocery bill for a year - make healthy meals for my nephew and do it on my budget. i agree that we have let ourselves become an overweight nation and we really do have only ourselves to blame for getting there in the first place - but once your there it's just not as easy or cost effective to get rid of that weight. And people who judge others for that - well they have way too much time on their hands and maybe should concentrate on not being such cruel mean people and look at fixing their personality problems. Because in the end - fat people can lose weight but jerks will always be jerks. me i'd rather be a fat nice person that some skinny minnie who's so self absorbed they don't realize their own flaws.

It the same reason people make excuses like "I can quit smoking anytime I want to." or "I don't NEED that drink." Part of it is an addiction, food is addictive especially good tasting food.

Also it is easy to sit on the couch and watch TV, it is harder to get up an exercise. It is easy to just go to bed instead of taking a walk. Keep in mind that people weigh exactly how much their lifestyle can support.

Why do fat people make excuses, same reasons alcoholics or smokers make excuses. It is easier to say something than do something.

Oh and keep in mind, for some people it may be a medical condition that is out of their control.

i agree its insane! i know from time to time everyone gos up and down in wieght depending on whats happening in life! but its crazy when small kids at the age of 8 are bigger then anyone i know! then you see there parents and you thinkwell thats why! then they cry when there kid is taking away from them!

do there parents not realise your child is going to have a hard time through there whole life, bullys, self confidence etc etc! something needs to be done!

jamies school dinners ha that didnt work!

it doesnt help that ppl that are at a normal weight ignore the problem cause it does not effect them as they are fine but it is becoming a country problem! we are going to be none as the tubby nation, united fat kingdom, lift my flad country, etc etc!!

but at the same time on the other side of the scale we have the size zero ppl where young girls (sometimes guys) are killking themselfs to look like victoria beckham to make sure that they dont have to get effected by the abuse ppl give out to the over weight!

what is the world coming to fat skinny normal average where all fat and all anerxic!

for some, it's not an excuse. They do have thyroid problems. Also, a lot of people use eating as an emotional crutch, so don't pick on them and make them feel worse than they already do. And no, I'm not fat.

Sometimes it is a thyroid problem, but that's fairly rare.

But to answer the question, they make a lot of poor excuses because there aren't very many good ones.
