I am comfortable with my size but it seems that other people think that my extra weight cancels out my feelings.

well miss lady...i can't speak for anyone but myself....but i love full figured women...i'm a slim, tall guy so i need to have full figured, healthy, sexy woman....opposites attract....if anything i really dont care for skinny women....but its all about proper proportion in my opinion....i am 6'3 195lbs....tall and slim....if i were 5'3...that would be kind of round...so its just all about the proportions....actually its all about who you feel about yourself...regardless of the proportion!!!

It all depends. Depends on what? Glad you asked.

It depends on where you are. In some countries "extra weight" is a good thing (a very good thing). As well, there are men in the United States who love women with "extra weight".

It also depends on who's looking at you; it may be a possibility that the other person is either insecure or not in love with themselves, so in order to "feel good" about themselves they put down or make fun of you and those with a few extra pounds. Most of these people have been put down themselves and are now perpetuating that cycle. In all actuality those who put down or make fun of others don't really like doing it.

Because we live in a society where young and thin is the supposed model of beauty. If this were the case, God would not have made us so different! Can you imagine how boring things would be if we were all the same - - how boring! God gave us many different colors, sizes, shapes, etc. and then so many subsets beyond that - - just look at the many different shades of green when you compare the grass with the trees - - and forget about all the colors of flowers - - it's amazing! You enjoy who you are and know that you are beautiful, sis!

I agree with the person that posted above. Skinny does not always equal wonderful treatment. I'm tiny and on the short side and always get comments. Usually just let it roll off my back but just because one is large or small, doesn't mean anything. Even the way that you worded your question...you're falling into the same category that upsets you about skinny people.

I agree with jaelyn, I am naturally skinny and people make fun of us too, especially the big girls. I have no idea why they do it, but it hurts too.

Women in general need to accept how others look like. Some big women cannot help being big, and some women cannot help being skinny.

People think that we should all look like celebrities, when that is not possible!
The media has too much effect on society today and it's a sad thing when there are girls as young as 8 becoming anorexic or bulimic because they think they will be ugly if they gain any weight.

you know, being a healthy girl myself, i have that same problem. but i've learned that in this society you just have to keep your head high.

all women have their own issue. skinny girls are called poles. big girls are hippos.

kudos to you, girl!

Right or wrong people judge others based on appearance, so accept the reality of the situation or change your appearance.

My niece is overweight, but very comfortable with her size too. It's unfortunate, but people do treat overweight people as if they were fat pigs with no self control who are lazy and have no self worth. This is not true, I know, but there are so many rude people out there. Just hold your head up and walk on by. I also know that they feel they have the right to call you names to your face when they don't even know you. It is outrageous that they think they have this right. Kudos to you!
