All bids are permanent on eBay, but no one in their right mind would bid up to $1,500 for a cell phone. Chances are that you will win it at a price higher than the last bid. eBay probably has you set up on a proxy bid, which means that eBay will automatic bid on your behalf when the bid is increased. I don't know how to retract your bid, but don't worry because you will only pay like $1.00 more than the highest bid, which I am 97% sure will not be $1,500.
I hope this helps!

EBay and many other online auctions has a special exception to the contracted bid rule. Rest assured, usually these sites will have a special case for retracting bids that are typos. Especially if the typo is off by zeros. Example: $15.00 compared to $1500. Just make sure you notify the auction site of this mistake immediately.

You are usually asked to confirm your bid before it goes through. The large amount you bid will not end up at that amount, though, if someone else bids 20.00$ , and your bid automatically ups it to the next level, and no one else bids, that is the price you will pay.

guessing you are on eBay. just click on the help section, and type in 'how to retract your bid. it will tell you what to do to retract your bid, and give you the link. all's you will need is the auction number to type in, so copy and paste it.
i've made that mistake before, and the worst that happens once you retract your bid, is that it's recorded in your feedback profile. i guess, in case you make a habit of it they will pull you off or something. then it will tell you what you need to do. it's not hard. good luck.
