If I don't pay them, will they contact my employer?

They can if they have a judgment against you already. If they dont they cannot and it would be a violation of law just to threaten something they cannot do according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Wage garnishments have to go through the courts. Any garnishment letters would come from the court also. If they told you that they would send a garnishment notice, they have made an illegal threat to you. You could report them to the state's attorney general and collect big bucks for that.
