Negoes and african americans. I'm a canadian, born and raised but I'm still called an african american. You call white people white, but you can't call black people black. Why is that?
Another thing: Why do white people thing they can just bust out the N-word? It doesn't matter whether you're using it maliciously, or jokingly, you can't say it. People say it around me and expect me not to say anything. I get mad, and they're supprised. Can anyone answer those two questions for me?

people are leaving me answers like "***** means black in spanish." So why aren't white people called "Blancos?"

By the way, by "The N word" I mean the one that ends in "ger", not *****.

Last detail I'm adding(hopefully)
It's okay to look in the mirror with a friend and go "Wow, I'm getting fat!" But it's not okay to look at your friend and say "Wow you're getting fat." It's fine to be nagative about your slef but not about other people. Thta's why black people use that word, and don't want white people to.

Make sure you get your education.
Make sure you get paid.
Make sure you get your proper place in line.
Ignore most of the rest--just don't answer if people call you anything other than your name.

People who used the term ***** are either really old and can't keep up with the correct term, talking about something from the past that used the term, or just people who want to get a rise out of people.
I don't know about you guys up north but we in the united states still use the term Black. African American is used similarly to the way the term Caucasian is used. In are day to day lives most people say Black and White.
and do they really call you African American if your Black in Canada. I thought they have called you something like Black Canadian or African Canadian.

I never use that word, and even though I'm what everyone considers "white" I have slapped a few people because they have said it. I don't care if something is not directed at me. If it is a derogatory term, I don't use it, or I try not to. (I can't call myself anything but white or Caucasian because my heritage is Italian, Czechoslovakian, British, Irish, some German, a little bit Polish and Russian, and some small amounts of other races! I guess I would have to call myself ItaCzechSlovBritrishGerPolRus American or something! =D )
If I know you (as in person to person, not over the net), I would call you a African Canadian, if that is what you would prefer.
The whole because the 'N' word means black in Spanish is stupid in my opinion. Would that make me Blanca?(Blanca because I'm a girl) And why not use the German word for black? Why not French?

Yes ***** is black in spanish, but it doesn't sound offensive when a hispanic person says is (although it can be said in an offensive way it all depends), however when a white person says it like "*****(es)" it does sound very offensive, and I'm very sure they mean it that way for the most part, it's kind of like the "N" word in a white person's mouth or whoever pronounces it that way, not with the spanish pronunciation.

Negroe is used to degrade no a days. It was a valid term for us in the early 1900s. ie United ***** college fund.
Whites have never had issues with the USofA, only black America has been struggling with identity since 1865.
I understand our slaves use to flee to Canada...when Canada still had slavery...whats that tell you 'bout the USofA.
Do ya'll think we are dumb with our race issues...'cause I DO!!!! I'm tired of it. We are AMERICANS and we should make sure ALL OF US don't get trampled on...not just the black ones, or Asian ones or Jewish ones.
I am also Bahamaian so I use black. African Bahamian is as moot as White Swede!!!!

there are too many terms and too many people take offense.
you want to be called black- if someone else was to be called black they would be offended. people called african american get angry over that term.
just tell people you perfer ________ (whatever you prefer)
****** is just a word. like any other word. yuo mepower the word by getting so bent out of shape-
I'm not saying you don't have a right to when someone is using it in its most famous form- but when someone is kidding and you know they are joking but still get angry then there is an issue.
if you don't think it can be used- even jokingly- then tell people around you.
but be fair- you can't use any racial terms even jokingly.

The word, "*****" it sounds so old fashioned to me. Haven't heard it much from other people either. (except in georgia...go figure) I have always used the term, black or african descent. If you hear "*****" or "******" and it bothers you, you can take if personally if you want but if I were you I wouldn't let something like that wiggle it's way into your mind because those who choose to use it actually want you to react in a certain way...it's more powerful to let it bounce off of you. Sometimes ignorance needs a taste of it's own medicine.

they're courteous titles of handle, merely as miss, Ms, Mr, Mrs, Mr President etc are courtesy titles. it rather is disrespectful and rude to no longer use a guy or woman's courtesy call, even with what non secular or ethical qualms you have gotten. while you're no longer entitled to apply the guy's Christian call, then it rather is even ruder to presume upon that diploma of familiarity. If calling a clergyman ''Father'' or "Reverend'' is such an insurmountable project for you, ask the guy how he might desire to be addressed. do no longer anticipate you ought to use besides the fact that form of handle you desire: scruples do no longer justify or excuse a loss of manners. Pastor, of direction, skill ''shepherd''. Why does this no longer reason any problems for you?

I agree that the N-word isnt okay espically if it hurts feelings, but at the same token however, look our society. The word is everywhere!!! People are idiots for the most part and greatly influenced by the media to the point that they are so brain dead they will spew out anything without thinking. I would recommend that you not focus so much on labels and look to personality not ethnic origins, enough judgements are passed everyday dont let it control you.
