Of course not all stereotypes have a factual origin, but I was wondering if anyone had some historical/factual information on this? Or was this whole 'dumb blonde' persona just started by the jealous brunettes? :-P

I suspect it was first directed towards bleach blondes in the 20's & 30's, And, yes - I'd also suspect jealously is involved.
TV & movies are partially to blame. They encourage stereotyping because it serves as a short cut to character development.

Because of what they see in movies and on television, Marilyn Monroe,Suzanne Somers they were very talented and portrayed dumbness very well and sadly many people believe everything they see on tv, who are the dumb ones? The people who actually believe that.

Yeah, brunettes are sure jealous of you blondes...I think it was just that statistically they weren't as smart...sorry, that doesn't mean you're dumb or anyone else is. And it also seems like these girls who act ditzy then dye their hair blonde.
