Let's see... when I think of butterflies, I think of soft yellow and white, and blue.

Various pastel shades would be lovely. I did that for my daughter's wedding. It was easy, and everything went together well.

When you say butterfly, what color immediately springs to mind? That will be your color motif.

Butterflies have a lot of variety, and therefore a class of colorful insects. Most butterfly-themed I've seen chose yellows, pinks, and oranges to keep it colorful and not solemn, since dark-colored themed would defeat the purpose.

You could also choose to use a scenario as a basis for your color motif. Such as if you are a butterfly, where would you most likely fly off to? A grassy field (light green), a lush forest (auburn, rust, or forest green), an orchid farm (shades of lavender, deep purple, stunning crimson), or a field of wild flowers (a variety of colors).

Hope this will give you some ideas ^^

I would suggest that if you're going to have a butterfly themed wedding, that you get online with your finace and look at all the different butterfly's there are in the world (and, that's a whole lot) and choose your color theme from that. From there, you can build what the rest of your wedding will theoretically look like. It's just an idea but... well, good luck.

You might want to research your decorations, etc. and determine your color after you find what's more appealing to you.
