K&N filters are a very good brand they have been around for nearly 30 years...
they not only improve performance but they also put an end to constantly having to buy and later throw away paper filters...
more simular yet better than the old oil bath filters, they're not messy like the oil baths were but they are washable and reuseable which was also the upside of the oil baths too...
Its worth every penny it will more than save you its cost in the savings of not buying the old throw away paper filters within 1 year to 18 months and from then on its free and still saving you money while providing you great perfomance and better mileage as well

I always used them on quads and dirt bikes. They work really well. As for being worth the money I think you would be fine just buying the cheap air filter.
If money isn't a problem go with K&N.

I like the sound it causes the engine to produce, sounds like wow downdraught carbs...
It does increase the performance of the engine slightly and does the job of filtering the air and the oil. Some vehicles come of the manufacturers floor and do need a bit more air , and combined with a free flow exhaust, the performance increase is noticable .
I am specifically talking about the 1800cc Almera liftback, that performed better.

I have one on my 1978 XR75 dirt bike and it works fine. From all the car filters I've changed over the years, I don't think it's worth the expense.

i had one on a work truck in an area that had a lot of very fine dust and it trapped more than a paper element . some people couldn't pour beer from a boot if the instructions were written on the heel .

no they dont do anything for your engine.they can even cause the mass air flow sensor to go bad on some cars because of oiling it too much.

I have heard, from some friends that have used them, only that they don't deliver their claims.
I can not speak from personal experience.
