In AZ, day laborers are such a big deal. There is signs posted everywhere that it's illegal. What about the white guy who sits on the corner of the freeway with a pile of his trash next to him and a sign asking peple for money. Panhandling is a class 3 misdemeanor in AZ. No signs there. Also, not everyone crossing the border is Mexican, you have people from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, many more. But it's the "Mexicans" They get jobs people get mad , they don't have jobs people get mad cause they're using government assistance. Yet once, I saw a news report that showed white polygamy communities taking advantage of governemnt assistance, no uproar on that. Then it's a "we want to secure our borders from terrorists", didn't the terrorist of 9/11 come through Canada? It happened to the Irish people, then to the African-American people. Now it's the Mexican people's turn, I guess. All I'm saying is for people who have such strong opinions on this admit it's a race issue.

Rosa Q- At least you hate everyone equally

uab_- I would've thought the drain on the economy was all the white politicians using taxpayers $ for their personal pleasures and companies screwing the economy would be like Enron, owned by white males. Sure screwed a lot of Americans

STFU- I bet that's exactly what the white people used to say about black people in the 50's & 60's- huh, I wonder what ever happened to all those"White Only- NO Coloreds" signs

It is a race issue. In California, we have the same problems. White people blame Mexicans (or other non-white people)for "stealing" their jobs, and yet, when they don't get a job but go to get welfare, they get mad for using "their taxpayer's money". It's a lot of bull if you ask me. Mexicans have just as much right to be here as anyone else. We all came from somewhere else.

Not to mention, a lot of white people see any Latino person and not only assume that they're Mexican, but they assume that they're an illegal immigrant. Not true. There are plenty of Mexicans here who came here illegally (to work and support families) but get harassed just because some white people don't like them being here.

It's f'd up, man.

Racism is an issue. No immigrant has come here without being discriminated against. The cultural groups you just described work hard for their acceptance and Mexican will have to do the same thing.

It is absolutely racist! I am white and my husband is Mexican. People ask me all the time if my husband is legal- like everyone who is Mexican or Hispanic is illegal. (He was born in CHICAGO!) I think it is so stupid when people say we should build a fence, that is so ignorant. America's immigration laws are so messed up, the majority of illegal immigrants actually came here legally, they just didn't leave. It's not like every immigrant out there hates Americans and wants to take jobs away. They come here to work and provide for their families the same way Americans do!

I live in Calif. I'm in America. I speak English. I'm a citizen of this country. I pay allot of taxes. I mind the Laws. I have a right to a job without having to speak a second language. Like Spanish. I'm white and Hispanic. And pretty pissed about this crap. If you don't have business in this country and you don't pay taxes then get out! Go back to where you came from, where ever that is!

The only thing that would be fair is if every race got the hell out of America and gave the land back to Native Americans.
Stop whining, you all stole land from someone.

"IT" has nothing to do with race.

"IT" is about the drain on the economy.
"IT" is about non-citizens getting government benefits.
"IT" is about people crossing the border ILLEGALLY.
"IT" is about companies screwing the US economy by hiring illegals
"IT" is about pregnant women coming here to have kids for free and so their kids will be US Citizens.
"IT" Is about the migrant workers (illegals) comming here and failing to respect our laws, keeping their yards like it is some 3rd world country
"IT" is ALSO about people who abuse government assistance programs.

"Mexicans" is a term many Americans apply to people of hispanic decent...in the same way that I refer to "Coke" as all soda pop, or "Kleenez" as all facial tissue.

it isn't a race issue at all, people just don't want smelly mexican'ts on their property and hanging out in front of there convenience store, who cares about the off ramp, and do we have to put up signs all over to remind us about the laws.
