How can people be united as a group when they are people?

I just want to know when and why do people become a group. This is a general question. I trying to find if the group i'm in is a united as one. and if are together. At this time i not sure anymore. I need to know if our group was really together. I with some people who have gone out of church, were kind of just hanging out have fun, because at the same time we are all friends. but it feel like we are not a group. So how do you know. It seems like we think alike but we don't communicate able to understand and process each other. I don't how close we are. I not even sure if we are friends. What am i doing here? Why do i just come?
