I am a Lions Club member and wondered if the money I spend on dues and auto are considered charitable contributions per IRS rules? Is Lions a 501(c)3 organization? Please give reference. Thanks.

No, your dues are not deductible as a charitable contribution. Any donations that you make above and beyond the annual dues ARE deductible, however.

Any money contributed to any organization in exchange for a good or service is not deductable, unless the amount contributed is more than the fair market value.

See Publication 526 "Charitable Contributions" for more details about what can be deducable as a donation.

a real income tax would not have deductions. Why would desire to guy or woman A pay much less taxes than guy or woman B basically because of the fact guy or woman A has 6 youngsters and provides to PBS whilst guy or woman B basically saves their money? at the instant we've an income minus deductions tax. i think if 2 people have the comparable income they might desire to pay the comparable tax. And the tax should not be consistent with how they be certain to apply their income.
