You'd be better seeing your doctor i was induced at 36 weeks with it,they will check your blood pressure and test your urine for protein.

In pre-eclampsia any severe pain top right just above your bump is caused by an enlarged liver, I have just had my 3rd son and had this, its very localised and painful, if your pain is more central it sounds like it could be coming from your back, I had this with my second son, it was right between my breasts and was very painful, it came in spells lasting from 2-12 hours, might be worth a trip to a chiropractor to check. I have had pre-eclampsia with all three of my children, other signs are raised blood pressure, protein in your urine, severe swelling of your ankles, hands and face along with a bad headache you cannot get rid of and visual disturbance (flashing lights), if you also have any of these get checked out immediately. A blood test will show up anything wrong.

I've had Pre-eclampsia TWICE, The second time I had upper abdominal pain, just above my bump (I was 31 weeks!) The Midwife came, and said took my B.P (which was high) and a urine sample (protein in the urine) The pain I was having, was a sign of my liver failing, I was rushed to hospital to have an emergency C-Section, my daughter was born (2lbs 4oz)
She is fine now, 3 years old and little Madam!
My advice is, go to your Doctor or Midwife, you need to get checked out, it may just be normal pregnancy pains, or something else, but don't ignore it! Good luck, and I hope every thing's OK!

You need to speak to a professional asap, be it you GP or Midwife. I suffered from pre-eclampsia during my pregnancy and it was only detected when my blood pressure started to become raised (I was around 30 weeks). Pre-eclampsia effects people differently. You'll need to have your BP checked and your urine tested for protein. If either is high you will be monitored closely and then either have labour induced or a c-section booked. I wouldn't look for answers on the internet the only way to put your mind at rest is to speak to your Midwife. It could be something as simple your baby moving lower into your abdomen or the way the baby is sitting. You'll never find out if you don't have it checked.

As your Midwife will tell you it's better to be safe!!!!

With pre-eclampsia the pain that they are talking about is like heart burn. Sounds like you're probably suffering because of the weight of the bump. . .

Most common symptoms of pre-eclampsia are: persisant headaches that do not abate with paracetamol, swelling particuarly in hands and feet and spots before the eyes, if you have any of these they can test for it pretty quickly with your midwife as you will likely have high blood pressure and protein in your wee which they can find with a simple dip stick test.

It doesn't sound like you have pre-eclampsia, however any time you have pain or discomfort and don't feel comfortable in pregnancy you should phone your midwife or GP.

sweetie upper abdominal pain would be under your breast down to the belly button, have you mentioned this pain to your Dr? If not you should just so they can know to test for anything that it might be a sign of. Good luck

Do you have high blood pressure? Pre-eclampsia works differently on different people. My aunt had it and she had fluid gather around her heart. I had it during my pregnancy and it affected my liver. My side hurt me, not my abdominal region. I'm not sure where my aunt had pain at.

I think you would be much better off talking to a medical professional rather than trying to match your symptoms with conditions that you are reading about on the internet.

Just give your midwife a call, she won't mind!
