abnormal to have a hard cough for so long. My son has seen his doctor and his doctor has given him an inhaler. He uses Purimort and Albural but it does not seem to help. It's hard to hear him cough every 5 minutes. But at night, he is fine. He eats well and is pretty active. The only thing is his hard cough. Please advise.

have you checked for allergies....could be anything from food to feathers in the pillow...
chest x-ray...just to be safe....
not to scare you but my husband was coughing for 2 weeks (lots of mucous)...thought it was bronchitis....had chest x-ray....turned out it was stage one....lung cancer....he's fine now...he was lucky.....
don't think your son has anything as serious as my husband
...did the doctor do a sinus check up........also the type of doctor you go to can make a difference...you might want to go to an ENT (ears, nose throat) Dr.
some medicines just treat the symptom...you need to know THE CAUSE.....Wishing all the best!

Sounds like maybe you need to take him to another doctor for a second opinion.

It may simply be sinus drainage - phlegm causing him to cough. Try giving him Benadryl to see if that helps (provided it isn't a problem mixing that with his current medications).

You need to have your son treated for respiratory problems before the situation gets worse. Puffers are only temporary reliefs; what he needs is a cure - something to strengthen his body's immune system but avoid a puffer which is addictive. I saw a website (http://www.asmago.com) which sells a complementary medicine for breathing complaints.

sounds emotional in origin, he found out it gets him attention maybe or possibly hes very nervous about something. then again it could be a food allergy.
