we have a chevy 1500 balzer from '94 with 160 thousand miles, and a chevy 1500 longbed truck from '91 with 320 thousand miles, both with the same engine.

im sure that the engines are original, but i was wondering how long can that engine last? and if i take excellent care wile the truck last another 100 thousand because im 16 and cant afford a new vehicle at the moment

the blazer isnt mine, but can stress , like hauling 3 tons of logs and 3000 pound logs up on a trailer, cause the engine to fail sooner?

my final question is when i try to start my truck (the 320 thousand one) i turn the ignition whithout a key in it and the engine will usally fire right off, but when i use my key, it wants to sit and click like its got a dead battery. can the key in the worn out ignition cause it not to connect right?

If it's well maintained and not hot rodded or overloaded, no reason why not. The pistons may be loose in the bore, but if it don't smoke or use oil, it should go. A timing chain and gear would by a worthwhile investment rather than driving it till it quits. That will extend gas mileage and make it run a little better, too.
That's an odd one. The actual ignition switch is operated by a rod from the key section to the switch on top of steering column under the dash. If it's been wired around, forget the key switch except to unlock the wheel, unless that's been done away with, too.

I don't know the answer to the second question, but when I was in the Philippines I rode in trucks that had been left by the Japanese during WWll that had turned the odometer at least 4 or 5 times maybe more and they were running great.

i had a 89 1 ton and i had over 500000 kms. it was used as a tow truck and i never had the motor apart, not even the timing chain
but i also used synthetic oil and changed it regularly

and the key has nothing to do with transfering electricity

well i see you have a couple of good answers but as long as i've been working on cars about 15 yrs. when you start taring something apart is when it starts to go down hill. what i mean is if its not broke dont mess w/ it.as long as you give regular maint. and dont beat it hell500000 is posable.all in how you take care of it if your good to it it will be good to you.

thers the key change the fluids oil and antifreez,,the leading cause of motor faluire is the water jackets rust out and crack into the block followed by sludge buildup and the oil dosnt get back to top of motor...dont run low octain gas get midgrade ..and dont ever get gas from a station where the truck is filling the station tanks..it blow all the sedement from the bottom of the station tank and you pump into your car..as well as the block you'v got is a good rebuilder for later..
