Olive Oil should not be frozen, when oil gets cold it gels and therefore it will go rancid faster. Place oil in a dark bottle and store it in a cool place. like a wine cellar...

No, I don't think there is any point. Olive oil has a very long shelf life. If you are cooking something with olive oil and want to freeze the dish, that is fine. However, I don't think olive oil on its own will freeze. Check to see if there is an expiry date. If not you will just have to throw it if tastes off. If you don't think you can use it all share some with your friends. You can even buy bottles from the dollar shops and give them away as gifts.

That seems to be a question with mixed answers. On the Napoleon Olive Oil site http://www.napoleon-co.com/consumers/oo_uses.htm
they say this (Pour the oil into a plastic tub and freeze. When solid, remove to the refrigerator for storage, and use as a spread, in place of butter or margarine.) So I think it would be safe to freeze.
You would just have to return it to room temperature to use as a liquid. Or use solid in recipes. ~-~

No! Just make sure you have it well sealed and don't store it in a too hot or too cold place. Store it away from light. I have had relatives who have gotten olive oil in bulk--more than a gallon--and they have stored it for months with no problem. If you want, why don't you get a smaller (well sealed) bottle for everyday use and just refill it from the larger one when needed...that way you will not have to open the larger one and expose it to air more than necessary.

Any liquid has a temperature at which it freezes. However it may be lower than -10 degrees C which is the normal temperature of a household freezer.
Try a small quantity and see if it works.

you can but there is no need as it will keep in a cold place for yonks, a nice recipe is to get an empty sauce bottle, get some red hot peppers and put them in the Jar with the oil,
for a standard sauce bottle u need 6-8 peppers fresh or dried, leave for a week, and use some for cooking or put on your salads, as the oil gets older it gets hotter,

You'd have to have an extremely cold freezer, but it has a shelf life of a year, so why bother?
