Okay so 4 is half of 8. So the answer is going to be half of 6 to keep it in proportion. Making 3 grams of carbon from 4 grams of methane.
Difficult? I think not.

Therefore:
4:C::8:6
4*2:C*2::8:6
8:2*C::8:6
=>2*C = 6
C = 3

Therefore, you can get 3 grams of carbon from 4 grams of methane.
