Actually there is a White history month, but it doesn't matter because everyday is white everything everything until stated other wise. THAT is why there are occasions where other groups are highlighted. Why are you crying about this? If you want one no one is stopping you, and NO, celebrating ones heritage does NOT make them racist.
Assuming one is better that the other might be racist. To celebrate ones roots doesn't automatically mean you are putting other down.

Most networks have cross cultural programing now, So "White" and "Black" programming is pretty much a moot issue. However, it is interesting that "Black" network television promotes differences and dissention through exclusion of other races, even in there awards programs. Segregration should be long gone, folks!
Black history month further encourages segregation, as well as "We need our own" holidays like Kwanza. So, don't ask why we don't have a white history month so much as ask why do black leaders perpetuate outdated bigotry by insisting on segregation? Even malcolm X eventually came to the conclusion we all have to work together.

First, you need to understand the history. These things came about because blacks were traditionally blocked out or ignored by mainstream media in the past. Likewise, many publications did not address the needs or issues relating to black people. You may not realize this, but in addition to the usual life issues that everyone faces, blacks face additional obstacles that whites do not have to, and the white media do not care to cover that. Along with BET (Black Entertainment Television), a few black entrepreneurs also previously started publications such as Ebony magazine, Jet, Essence, which have catered to blacks. Not long ago, a black face was almost non-existent on television, other than when a crime was reported.

Regarding "White History month," The view is that history has always been taught from a European/White perspective, whereas anything relating to African-Americans/black people has only been about slavery. Were it not for Black History month, most people would not be taught anything positive and truthful about black people in the US and in fact, many do not care to learn. For example you might not learn about the existence of black writers, inventors, scientists, explorers, doctors, artists, pilots (Tuskegee Airmen, for example), black senators, soldiers who died in most of the wars in the US.

Can you remember reading any of this in any of your "regular" history books in school? Do you recall seeing many pictures of blacks, other than those who were slaves? Do you recall reading in any of those books that blacks contributed anything positive to the US? That's why black history has to be taught as such and that's also why BET came about...not perfect, but it's a start.. Many blacks would beg to differ on your statement about "White Entertainment TV" because of the simple fact that most of the major networks are exactly that.

MTV used to be for white music, now it's all for soul brothers. You don't want to really start with this question I think. All it's going to do, probably, is get the racist blacks all riled up. I would like to see all of these racial months and channels just abolished. Why does everyone have to always catagorize and define each other, and themselves, based on race or color. They are all idiots, the whites, the blacks, mexicans, indians, etc. It doesn't matter what race, they all get pretty stupid!!!...( uh oh, here come the violation notice's. I just insulted all races!)

Hey bear;*) Ive wondered that myself. Also why is "Black Power" okay when "White Power" isnt? Anything pro white is racist because we owned slaves. Nevermind how many hundreds of years its been & the fact that WE FREED THEM! Alot of blacks use this crap as an excuse for their failures as citizens.
