I would like to start working at home and making money (I'm a 17 year old student that's currently being "supported" by my family and I do not drive) through random things. Some ideas I have include freelance-writing/researching for people, selling on ebay, making art and selling it, starting a $1-5 a year quote/advice email subscription service, and I'm going to work on writing some books and starting a "positive self-growth" website with info on self-healing, meditation, etc. I'm seeking advice and guidance...where do I start? How would this work? I thought to advertise on craigslist, etc. but do I get people to pay (like with paypal) first, (when it comes to the freelance-writing/researching) or what? Any advice is appreciated. THANKS!

I guess I worded this wrong. I'm not trying to evade taxes or anything of that sort. I am not employed anywhere simply because I do not have a driver's license, and I have an illness that causes me to HAVE to stay at home often. I'm just looking for an alternative equivalent to babysitting, pet sitting, doing yard work, etc. if that makes any sense. :)

The most important step is to take a step. Just start selling. If something works do more of it, if it doesn't change it or do something different. Try to figure out what you are offering to people and determine the value of it. Always price to value. After that get out and sell weather in person on the Internet etc..

Hi Bee

I'm not trying to pick on you - but starting out by breaking the law by evading taxes (you mention making money "under the table") just isn 't a good idea. Can cause you lots of trouble down the line - also lots of money, since if you get caught, you're liable not only for the taxes you've evaded, but also for interest and penalties.

Sounds like you're a hard worker with lots of ideas - I wish you well. But if you make money on your ideas, stay legal and pay the taxes, OK?

Good luck to you.
