I don't know from experience. But I am a Native woman so I can guess at the answer.

It would be an embarrassment in the least.
It would be a punishment. In fact for many it would be the worst kind of punishment.
It would be a lesson hard learned.

I can't imagine just how hard it would be for someone to endure this. If it happened to me I would be so ashamed.

But this only happens for the worst offensives so it would be well deserving.

Exiled means being sent away. It is a form of punishment.
