I think that it must be harder now for teach to correct students without offending them. We live in such a pc, timid world. We are too worried about not offending people that we can't say anything without worry about getting sued by someone. People need to learn English correctly if they are too live here. I am a Mexican immigrant and I try to correct myself all the time. If i don't know a word I look it up, along with the correct pronunciation. I correct people like my fiancee and friends. They get mad at me, but it bothers me that they don't pronounce words correctly and it pisses me off if they get mad at me for correcting them. I also can't stand it when someone calls me from any company and the person can't even speak english correctly. it's a waste of my time trying to understand what the person is trying to tell me.

I'm sure the person being corrected might get offended. Should that really hinder whether or not the teacher should do his/her job? It would be offensive to the teacher to have English students who had poor grammar and speaking skills. No, it shouldn't offend them people need to grow up.

It's been a few years since I've attended college.
I can assure you, the professors there had no qualms about correcting your grammar, punctuation, and/or spelling. If you used poor English, you got penalized for it. Although in today's PC world, it's almost guaranteed you'll find offended students somewhere being slighted for the least little things.
BAH!
Correct them now and they'll have fewer problems in the future.

Teachers do not intend to offend pupils because it is inherent in them to teach with compassion and professionalism. One of the best opportunity to be taught is when one who speaks english in the incorrect manner is spontaneously corrected. A good strategy of memory retention. This is part of the continuing process in learning to speak english.

kids these days are all morons, teachers have simply become glorified babysitters while their parents are at the office which has basically become daycare for adults, poor education has turned the populous into children. yeah it sucks. but yeah i guess you were asking about whether it was polite, so my answer is probably fairly useless

I think it should be mandatory for all students to speak proper English in classrooms. No one should take offense to someones constructive criticism.

These days, even reminding people of things they forgot to do offends them.

In fact, it offends them if you point out they forgot to wear clothes before stepping out of the house.

People these days!
