Most plastics are simple combinations of carbon and hydrogen. Some (a definite minority) may contain oxygen, nitrogen, or chlorine (as in PVC).

Most glasses are silicon, aluminum, and oxygen. They may contain small amounts of other elements for color or specific properties.
