A sample with an unknown compound witha mass of 2.876g has the following coposition:66.07 percent carbon, 6.71 percent hydrogen, 4.06 percent nitrogen, and 23.16 percent oxygen. what is the mass of each element in this compound?

C : 66.07 / 100 x 2.876 = 1.900 g
H : 6.71 / 100 x 2.876 = .1930 g

I think the anser to your question is this:

Mass of C = (66.07/100)*2.876 = 1.90 g
Mass of H = (6.71/100)*2.876 = 0.19 g
Mass of N = (4.06/100)*2.876 = 0.12 g
Mass of O = (23.16/100)*2.876 = 0.67 g

Adding everything up, it adds up to 2.88 g
