How can it be possible that you were intelligent enough to obtain a lawyer, yet on such an important matter you personally did not accompany the lawyer to present the documents and obtain a receipt, or if sent by mail, they should have been sent certified/registered with a signature required upon delivery.. It is incredible that something so important was so carelessly handled by you.. you also fail to mention what the lawyer said when you confronted him with the goverments notice of non-receipt???Maybe you are just fabricating the entire episode??

It sounds like you need to get a better lawyer. There may still be a chance.

Well you need to get a hold of your lawyer. They can talk to them and probably work something out.
