how to solve: Please show with details on how its done

Formula: Ma*Va=Mb*Vb

Calculation: Ma=unknown Va=100mL Mb=1.0M Vb=45mL

that's simple algebra. solve for Ma, then plug everything in.

(alot of chemistry is just algebra so don't let it fool you)

Ma/Mb = Vb/Va ==> Ma/1 = 45/100 ==> Ma = 0.45 M

If thats the formula you are supposed to use, then you just rearrange it so you isolate Ma on the left, then you'd have Mb*Vb/Va which would give you 0.45M. Hope that helps.
