Is Iodine A Metal

Iodine is neither a metal or a metelloid. It is an element a violet crystalline solid that has a bad habit of subliming. Iodine is in the same series halogens and as such is quite reactive. BTW what are you calling a mettaloid? It's either metallic, nonmetallic or semiconductor.
Look for Mendeleev's Periodic Table and a good text that explains the chart and why it is structured the way that it is.

firstly iodine is gaseous in nature. most metals are solids so iodine is not a metal . Infact iodine is a non -metal and is know as a halogen.
