Molar mass is the number of grams per mole of a chemical compound. The atomic number on the periodical table can be interpreted in two ways: first as the mass of one single atom, measured in atomic mass units (amu) and second as the mass of one mole measured in grams (g/mol). For example, the atomic mass of Carbon is 12.011. Therefore, one mole of carbon weighs 12.011 grams, which is the molar mass.
