I'm working on a Chemistry project in which I'll be mixing up some sparklers (yeah I know I'll be careful) and I've researched it just like all the other color chemicals but nothing has told me where I can get them! They aren't too dangerous in this form, but they're crucial for the stabilazation of my mixture. Strontium nitrate is used in road flares, and both are used in fireworks, but is there a product I don't have to tear apart to get at them or somewhere I can buy them outright?

Since barium nitrate and strontium nitrate are toxic chemicals used mainly in conjunction with explosives, it may come as little surprise that they are not found in any common household products. If you need to obtain these substances, your best bet may be to contact a chemical supply company or a local university chemistry lab.

I don't think you'll be able to find household substances containing these compounds as these could be toxic when ingested. I'd try contacting chemical suppliers if I were you.

electrons jump to the shell above when heated, and then go back to original shell. This releases energy as light. Different elements jump up more etc so different colours of light are seen.
