Border People? There are illegals in almost every city in the nation. Yes the illegals are allowed to violate the law and not be punished for it. That is a double standard.

Yes. But I also believe that we could do more if we would activate ourselves and refuse to do business with anyone or any business that hires, harbors or helps illegal immigrants and if we would demand specific performance from our ICE and Federal Government on immigration Law Enforcement. If we law-abiding citizens demanded equal treatment and forced our way to get it by "working off the books" we could show the government what happens when everyone is treated equally and everyone decides which laws we want to obey and which we don't. Also, if we all decided to send at least 50% of our income off shore in some kind of special account so we could retire in style somewhere else, how long do you think it would be before the government started enforcing our laws? It's time American Citizens took meaningless jobs and worked "off the books" and signed up for food stamps, welfare, free medical care, free education and all the benefits we've been suckered into paying for illegal immigrants. Don't you think the government would be much more likely to start enforcing the law if we all took the same attitude as illegal immigrants and those who hire, harbor and help them?

Fish is right:

But I might add that the same goes for the government and the overly wealthy.

Not sure what you mean by border people...illegal aliens maybe?

If so, then yes there are double standards...one for citizens and one for the illegals...with citizenship comes rights and responsibilities, illegals only have certain rights.

Shortend of the stick: no way.

Immigration across the border are a threat to this country. The Mexican population is totally out of control and spreading much faster than they could ever support. Their big family mentality is the key reason. If we try and save them, we will permanently damage our own economy beyond repair. I feel bad for them, but we simply have no choice but to close the border to illegal immigration. When you add India, Indonesia, and other coutnries into the mix, they believe they can solve all their problems by sending their excess here, and taking away our jobs with cheap labor. It's time for us to DEMAND our government do what is in our best interest.

The Border People? We have borders with Canada and Mexico. Let me remind all of you that our country was founded on immigration. It doesn't matter who you are everyone immigrated into this country, Native Americans included. My return question is if you are a multiple generational American should you have more rights then a first generation American? We are all Americans regardless and all deserve rights as well as respect.

I live in El Paso, right on the border with Mexico, so I am interested in this question, but it is not very clear. What kind of double standard are you referring to?

If you are referring to the fact that it seems that the ILLEGAL alien criminals get more privileges than citizens - YES.

If you are asking about the fact that border states (e.g., CA, TX, AZ) get screwed when it comes to support at the border - YES!

If you are asking if the ILLEGAL alien criminals have rights, just like citizens - ABSOLUTELY NOT!
