Definetly you should dress up. As a hair stylist, I know I wont give a cool haircut to someone who comes in looking like they dont care and have no style. Why make a really good haircut if the person wont keep it up and style it?

If you want a trendy and hip cut, come in looking like you are trendy and hip.

If you want a normal cut, come in looking average.

I generally dress fairly nice all the time from habit. I don't leave the house with stained clothing on (unless it's an emergency). But, I have noticed that I do get treated a lot differently like at a Wal-Mart hair cutting place versus say a privately owned Salon in town. The salons around town are nicer to me than Wal-Mart. I don't think it's because of how I look but rather the fact that I'm at Wal-Mart and it just works its people a certain way. Besides, when I find a good place to go I stick with it. So, when I go back, they sorta remember me so it works (leaving a tip helps with this).
