War is a flaw in mankind. But who is wrong, the one who started it or who hit back? Millions die in war. Millions more die in the slavery and corruption caused by the war starter. Without a war, the starter would murder by the billions.

"A million wars could not cause as much death as Slagar already has. Millions equivlance of millions of war to come if we do not fight."
-Quote from the book Monster

It is naive to be against all war. That's like being against breathing, go ahead and try it...tell me how that works out for you. In both cases when the lack of oxygen comes you will take a breath no matter how much you are against it, or you will die. Same as war, spew all the retoric you like, but when war comes to you - you will fight or die.
In a perfect world there would be no war....hell in a perfect world communism would work. But both are fantasy. Plato said it best, "Only the dead have seen the ned of war."
If you were to take war out of history what would we have. Most likely you wouldn't have this computer, war often brings on technology throughout history. (military basically invented the internet, sorry Al Gore)
Words cannot change minds where the sword can. You could go and "debate" a terorist all day on the liberal tlaking points and the idea that war is evil - he wins when he cuts your head off. The Cold War would not have been such if we stockpiled words while they stockpiled weapons.
War made this country great, hell - war made this country possible. War allowed us our freedoms and war has protected them.

War may be a flaw of mankind but mankind also has intellegence and the ablility to talk. Therefore war needs to be the very last resort after all else fails to settle desputes. Sometimes wars are because the agressor is greedy and doesn't want to talk but grab land or force religion on someone. They are wrong in so doing but it happens.

The problem with a million wars causing death compared to slaughter is that often they are one in the same. Adolph Hitler not only warred against other countries but systematically slaughtered millions of people who were not, in the Nazi, mind fit to live. Such people were mentally ill, had birth defects or other physical imperfections, were Jews, Gypsies, or homosexuals.
In ancient times the victors often made slaves of the vanquished. That is not necessarily the norm in the modern world unless a different, and unacceptable lifestyle or belief system is forced upon the vanquished by the victor and then the vanquished can be said to be enslaved morally or mentally.

While I believe war should be avoided I am no pacifist. If all else has failed or to defend one's self war is often necessary.

When going to war one should always be sure of his real enemy and not a percieved one. Being fooled can be deadlier than taking on the real enemy before he gains more strength.

War is not something that any sane person wants. However there will always be a time in the history of the world when even the sane must stand up for their beliefs and for what is right. Would you stand in your yard while in the next yard over you see a man beating the living crap out of a defenseless child? If so, then you have no right to be called a human. If you would step into the next yard and put a good $#& kicking on this guy to protect the innocent, then good for you. War is a Necessity sometimes!

I would rather there was no war. I do not believe a sane person could be in favor. However, that said, there are times when you have to stand up and be counted.

Some examples. Hitler. What if everyone else had said, we will not fight. Do you honestly think Hitler would have sad "Right, I won't fight either."? Of course not, he would have trampled over everyone.

What if he had not attacked Poland precipitating the Second World War? He just kept what he had gained without war and went on with his 'final solution'? Would the rest of the world have been justified in going to war to end the Holocaust?

In life, nothing is simple and only the simple ever think it is.

Wars have their place in nature along with asteroids and volcanoes. It's a part of a natural cycle that is beyond our ability to comprehend on a universal scale. Everything is a check and balance in nature even humans. Without wars there would be something else in place that would be just as bad for us. Inevitably mass extinctions are a natural part of evolution on this planet whether it be from war, asteroid impacts, volcanoes, or who knows what. We haven't been able to see that system on other planets with life but I would imagine it is similar.

You can think of it in infinite scales. For example, if you flush an ant hill with water you have basically wiped out that species in that tiny little area although many other ant hills exist that you can't see. Natural balances allow other life to flourish beyond this area whether you know about it or not. If the Earth is wiped clean of life from some catastrophic event, natural balances allow other life to flourish beyond it. Even so, the Earth has recovered from some major catastrophic events in the past. How far does this scale go? Is the universe just a piece of a bigger puzzle?

I am a VETERAN who was there. We are not all for war, but when we are fighting, the last thing we need is for anti-war protesters to give 'comfort' to the bad guys. In Iraq, I am 100% sure that the bad guys fought so hard because they knew the anti-war protesters would win eventually. I am sure that significant casualties were caused by the anti-war movement.. War is bad, but if your country is there support 100%, file criminal charges against politicians after the conflict...

I don't understand all the particulars of the war.

The war is being fought and I intend to help my country and the citizens of the countries that want to have a government without terrorism.

The insurgents and other people fighting against the US are probably thinking they are helping.

I just want to be a Marine and fight for the US and the other people. I will also help with the rebuilding effort if the USMC wants me to.

Are you interior the u . s .? if so, the war on terror will look very diverse there to everywhere else. the point of expert-war propaganda in u . s . is unbelieveable, quite interior the media. It appeared, early on a minimum of, as though lots of usa of america certainly believed that a war on terror would paintings. In Europe the entire thought became into laughed at from the commencing up. The WoT became into purely a manner of Bush achieving long term coverage objectives like overthrowing Saddam. Saddam had not something to do with 9/11 and Iraq became into in particular freed from Al-Q together as he became into in ability. needless to say the WoT has made the international a greater risky place.

The start of every war in history is far more complex than a "you started it" argument. That said, war isn't a flaw of mankind it part of our nature to fight, deep desire and conviction is a byproduct of higher order thinking. War unfortunately is a necessity.

You can not fight and be pacifists all you want until someone comes your way who isn't peaceful or pacifistic. The one who is wrong is the one who loses. Might is right after all. People won't always like your ideas and are unwilling to compromise, and will try to destroy your dreams to build up theirs. In truth, the only thing in the world that is right is war. If you don't have the resolve to fight for what you believe in, then you shouldn't believe in it at all.
