I keep seeing new technology coming out that's better than iPod. Also, most software out there won't recognize iPod format. If I knew any better, i'd say iPod is strategically getting pushed out of the market.....

Is it that they are getting strategically forced out of the market or is it that they are trying to strategically force everyone else out? If the ipod is the status symbol, then 'everyone' will want one. If the company that makes the ipod also makes the only software that is compatable, they both increase the usage of their technology, and yield the other company's software useless. ipod doesn't have to have the best technology if the majority of people shopping for one aren't looking for the top of the line technology. If they only want a music player that makes them 'cool' then they won't look anywhere else.

I love my iPod and hate to be disloyal, but. . . sometimes I wonder if I made the right choice. I see other MP3 players with all these interesting features like FM tuner/recorders, microphones, even some that can access the Internet. The iPod is overpriced for what it does; really you're just paying for the name. I don't think they'll go off the market anytime soon, though. . .
