This is not a scam. This is an actual pageant. It is very good for beginners. National American Miss emphasizes natural beauty and a positive self-image. It is centered around helping young girls expand their ideas of who they are and what they want to achieve. This pageant stresses age-appropriate activities and attire in all age division. You will gain valuable communications skills and the competitive edge to succeed in later life. This pageant also have optional competitions such as talent, casual wear modeling, photogenic, spokesmodel, and actress. The optional competitions are completely separate from the overall competition and do not influence your overall pageant scores in any way. It is not required for a contestant to enter optionals in order to be on the judges' radar for potential state queens. It's a good pageant, you should try it!

EDIT
sorry I accidentally wrote it was a scam but it's not

No, National American Miss is not a scam. I have participated in this pageant system about three times and I would say that it is well worth your money. The reason you probably got the packet was because either someone who did participate in the pageant who knew you recommended you for it and sent a packet for you. It is not a beauty pageant and if you try to practice or get a consultant to help you, you can be able to place very well but if you don't make an effort to try, then you wont be able to. Practice always makes perfect like studying for a math test. I had a really fun time at the pageant and I am thinking of going this year.

Um, I have done this pageant for 3 years and LOVE IT! The girls are really nice. I don't know anything about a $10,000 scholarship and there is no "most talented." I don't think that person was talking about nationl american miss. My best friend is someone I met at the pageant 2 years ago. That is my favorite part. I agree with the girl that says go to the website. there is lots of stuff there about prizes, nationals and you can email your director there if you need anything! Have fun!

It is more than likely not a scam. I receive one of those once a year because as a child my parents put my in them. Fortunately that is not my scene anymore, although it is for many girls. I would say that if you're willing to spend the time needed for preparation and your parents are willing to spend the money go for it. And yes it is hard to become the winner or even close to a runner up, but like i said you have to be willing to spend lost of time preparing and you may even want to look into a pageant coach. hope i helped.

This is not a scam. They have a very significant marketing department that focuses on girls that are of age to enter their pageant. My daughter entered - there were 70 in her age group - though I hear there can be up to 200 in an age group. She was fortunate enough to win the state title and she had the most amazing experience with National American Miss. I would highly recommend it.

I got one of those letters when I was your age. My father checked it out. Although he didn't think it was a scam per se, there is definitely more to it than meets the eye. You should discuss it with your parents. Before paying any type of entry fees you should also find out exactly how many of those letters went out so you have a more realistic idea of your chances.

I tend teen pageants and do not think they are a scam. I think that they help so many have alot of confidence and for me I know the interview portion of them has helped me with job interviews and from doing them in front of large audiences, have no fear of public speaking which makes me more marketable.

It's not a scam, but they usually send it out to every girl between the ages of 13 and 18.

If you want to do it, go for it. Just know that you will probably come out with a terribly low self-esteem.
