I picked up a set of 2500 mAh NiMH batteries from Best Buy, charged them overnight and stuck them in my Wii controllers. What happens is that it acts like the batteries are dead and looses connection with the console. If I replace them with normal batteries, it works fine. What gives?Do I need to charge them more? Thanks.

@carolyn S

The batteries were used immediately after being charged for that time and was after the first charge cycle.

I had a similar problem using NiMH batteries in digital cameras, and this may apply to the Wiimotes. I read somewhere that some electronic devices require a consistent voltage to function properly. The problem with NiMH batteries is that their voltage decreases as the power is drained. Another problem with NiMH batteries is that they lose power quickly over time even when they're not being used.

I don't have a Wii, so I can't really confirm this theory (They're too hard to find in my area).

the charger works straight away be analyzing the batteries state-of-charge, so a small replace in complete skill must be dealt with without problem. switching to a everyday nimh battery to replace a Sony infoLithium may well be a actual problem
