Mechanical energy, the energy of motion, can be used to produce electrical energy any time a magnet moves within a coil of wire or a band of wire moves within a set of magnets. Whatever gets the magnet or coil to move would be the mechanical energy, whether it's human power, waves, wind, or anything else you can think of. Hope this helps.

What type of mechanical energy.. most energy is produced by mechanics of some sort. Energy conversions in chemistry form elements can be done also. Quantum mechanics? yes, energy is produced from paritcles.. electric too.
