Very few PhDs are really useful, unless you want to hold a research or teaching position in that area.

If you intend to work in some area related to linguistics, then having a PhD in it may not be necessary, but may at least improve your standing somewhat.

On the other hand, the possession of a PhD does at least imply that you have some very useful skills that are applicable to many areas of work.

In order to teach linguistics at the university level, one must hold the PhD.

Well it is my opinion that this subject: Linguistics isnt very useful since it is hard to find jobs. However there is one job I can think of which is helping actors get rid of accents since some of the actors are foreingers and hope to make it to the hollywood scene
