Sometimes the combination of heat and grease.. hot grease, changes the properties of natural fibers (cotton is a natural fiber), so it may be a lost cause. Cotton fibers have a hollow core and anything liquid permeates the surface and locks into the center, combined with heat, the fiber is permanently changed.
I did the same thing to my favorite college t-shirt.

Make a paste of Dawn and Baking Soda. Apply it to the stain and let it sit overnight. Wash as usual.

You have a few choices. You can soak it in Biz Non-chlorine Activated Bleach, you can use Zout stain remover, you can use full strength Dawn dishwashing soap, you can rub it with Fels Naptha laundry soap or you can make your own oily stain remover:
1 tablespoon gycerin
1 tablespoon liquid dishwashing soap
8 tablespoons of water
