How did you get the suede on there in the first place? Did you step in some? (haha!)

do you mean salt?
use a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water. dab it onto a cotton cloth and rub softly all over the shoe and let dry. If the shoe is suede use a nylon brush instaed of cloth.
