You don't say what color it is and that does make a bit of a difference in treating it. If it is red or purple, you will need Wine Away stain remover or some 20 Mule Team Borax. Red stains that are sugar based, like Kool Aid are the most difficult to remove because of the red dye. Wine Away works instantly, but Boax takes a little more time. Make a paste with the borax and water, agitate into the stain with a brush. You will note the stain starts to turn blue, keep agitating and eventually it will vanish. Allow the borax to dry and vacuum it up.

Any other colored Kool Aid, like green, orange, yellow, Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover or Folex Upholstery cleaner will take it out.

I removed a red drink spilled on the floor with a bleach and water solution. My carpets are a very light color beige. I tested the color fastness in a closet first.

I used about a tablespoon of bleach to a squirt bottle full of water, a bottle the size of a febreeze container. I sprayed it on very heavy and used paper towels to BLOT the stain. It took a few tries but it came out just find and didn't leave any bleach stain at all.

I would NOT do this until you check to see if the bleach solution will damage your carpet. For me, even if it didn't turn a little yellow, on a beige carpet, yellow was better than bright red.

Also, I've heard that sun will bleach a stain that has been cleaned with a bleach or ammonia solution so be careful with that one too.
