I think deep down most people don't really want to fight. it is much easier to not fight. The only problem is corrupt leaders who are power hungry or greedy. But the majority of a people could overthrow a violent ruler. It is possible to install a more peaceful government.
I think the main reason people fight is over a limited amount of resources (jobs, natural resources) but all you need to solve that problem is a little less funding for war and a little more funding for science.
I don't believe the people who say world peace isn't possible. Of course it is. But at this point it is unlikely, because people are not united. If people united, they could move mountains and make strides towards peace.
We don't need to all be the same. We don't even need to agree necessarily. We just need to tolerate one another's differences. We could make it work.
Most people are not cold blooded killers. Whatever happened to the majority having a say about how they want to live?

Wow! I used to think like you when I was 16. Then as I got older I saw the world was full of crazies like Pol Pot,Idi Amin,Kim Jung, continuous genocides, etc. Nice thoughts, but unfortunately you can't make these psycho people join in group hugs.

Sadly, based on my observations, the only way there will be world peace is if there is one world government and all nations are abolished and violence of any kind is met with massive government violence until the people are so cowed that they simply realize the futility in fighting and accept their own slavery. That is a "peace" I want no part of.
And... what really sucks is, I would love to know that the earth and all earthlings have a chance at survival, for millions of years to come, before I die... and I doubt that's going to happen.
All that said I 'd answer the question Yes world peace has a chance. An ice cube's chance in hell.

Well, majority rules left when everyone became terrified of any kind of violence. Let me ramble a bit:

1.Some people are racist. They will NEVER tolerate a person that isn't like them.
2. Some people LOVE violence. It is terrible yes, but there is nothing we can do about them.
3. Violence controls people. Threats of violence make masses move. People with guns behind them always have more say, whether people will admit it or not. Police always have to negotiate with a crazy gunman because he holds something that can make others die.

I hunger for peace. I really do. But that does not mean that I will not be violent to defend my peace.

Peace in the world is nice, but without war, there is no peace. There would never be a day when everyone just starts liking everyone else. Bigotry/racism/etc will never die. Neither will the wars that are brought on by these ideals.

There are too many bad people in the world to ever have "world peace". It just won't ever happen. The best we can do is keep the peace here in our own country and try to help others do the same.

World peace isn't possible and anyone who believes so is foolish in doing so.

The only time there will truly be world peace is when the last human ceases to exist.

Not me. Peace has no chance on this planet. Look back over recorded time. There have always been wars. This isn't going to change.

There is no peace because there are evil people in the world. There always have been and there's no reason to expect that this will change.
