It's not the same car, but I used to have a 90 Pontiac Grand Am, and it did the same thing, all the time.

I just turned until i heard it click, and i moved the steering wheel, (It was caused when I took the key out too fast, before I actually turned it all the way off, so it basically got jammed.) it did this alot, so I just wiggled the key in there, back and forth until it gave way. Dont get mad at it, or you'll break the key inside there, I have also done that before. Just wiggle it back and forth, and I've had to sit there and do it for a long time, until it gave way. Sometimes my key would be stuck in there, or I'd get in and try to start it and it'd happen... and I knew what it was exactly every time.

My step dad was a Porsche Technition, and he just told me to do that everytime, I'm sure you get a new steering column, and key, and the starter and all that... but I was always able to get it free.

This might not be an ignition switch problem but a shift lock problem. Try to move the shift lever a bit and see if that helps.
