If you wear a saree one color it will make you look slimmer and taller. And wear it with hgih heels. The less heavier the fabric the less heavier you look. And avoid heavy design that would enhance your problem area. A multi tone sair ( unless the fabrice is not heavey) will make you look big in the waist area. But you can still wear any of these, it depends on the fabric and how you put it on. You can wear a saree that is heavily embrodiered and still look slim and tall. Wear same color from top to bottom to visually make you look slimmer and taller. wearing a shorter sari petticoat or tights gives a sleeker profile.
Some tips:
1. Women on the heavier side should buy saris in Georgette, Chiffon or Chignon. Heavy Mysore Silk Saris look beautiful and one tends to look slimmer.
2. Shorter women should buy saris with small borders or no borders. They should definitely avoid big borders as big borders make one look shorter.
3. Thin women should buy Organza, Cotton, Tissue and Tussar Saris. These Saris give a fuller effect.
4.In Printed Saris, avoid big prints, as it gives a gaudy and a huge look. Delicate print on a Sari, gives a delicate look.
5.Dark skin color women should generally buy dark colors like maroon, green, dark pink etc. Maroon and crème saris give them nice & fabulous look.
6. Taller women should buy sarees with big border.

A saree will only make you look short and wider. If you are trying to hide your shape in a bathing suite, go for an attractive bathrobe. Silk, loose, colorful, translucent.
That would look very attractive on you.

The best I can suggest is color of fabric and avoid prints near waist area.
accent the positive, keep bunchy fabric away from waist area.
add print to chest area to draw attention away from waist if you must use printed or textured fabric.
