Heat/AC controls not working on my 96 Ranger.?

Know the ac needs freon, but only the defrost is working with heat and air. What is causing this?

You've lost your main vacuum supply to your mode select switch. Check under the hood, on the passenger side of the truck, near the evaporator core housing, will be a plastic vacuum hose that routes into the heater box. Follow the hose. Repair the broken hose. Hope this helps.
