But someone was telling me not to let my boyfriend kiss our daughter on her cheeks or anywhere because he smokes pot. Would this really cause her a lot of harm?

When a person smokes, pot or cigarettes, Particles are deposited in the smokers hair and clothing. When they get near the baby the, baby inhales these particles. A baby who is around a smoker is more likely to have numerous infections but mainly in the ear. One joint contains 50% more cancer causing chemicals than cigarettes. Not only all of this but why put your daughters stability at risk staying with this guy. Tell him to grow up or get out.

an article about smoking:
http://www.babycenter.com/expert/baby/babysafety/1430505.html
"In fact, we found elevated levels of toxins in homes where smokers only lit up outside. Smokers spread contaminants wherever they go — they seep out of their clothes, skin, hair, and breath. For this reason, smokers should wear clean clothes (that they haven't worn while smoking) around the baby, wash their hands and face often (especially after smoking), and not let the baby suck on their fingers."

Some things are best kept confidential but since you asked. I feel no differently about using pot than cigarettes. Just my opinion smoke is smoke. But I dont see how kissing her could do major harm. It's a lot more things moms could be concerned about like people not washing their hands and then directly touching the baby (Salmonella, flu virus, etc.). Things you need Lysol for. You should check your profile and be sure that your identity is not exhibited as you can see your Q has offended some and Family and Children services are hot because of so much true defined abuse and neglect. Just for the record because some will say she doesn't have children. I have four healthy girls. I don't think anyone should smoke in the presence of their children. Outdoors is BIG.

I haven't heard anything about not letting someone who has smoked pot kiss a baby but I have heard that you shouldn't let anyone who has smoked anything hold a baby near their clothes because the smoke gets absorbed into the clothing ( or something like that)

If he's smoking it and then kissing her ...she's probably fine (Oh ya except for having a loady pot head for a daddy)

If he's rolling around in bails of it and then touching her...that could be dangerous...

Marajuana has oils in the plant that can be transferred by contact.

The oils contain the chemicals that get you high...SO if he has high concentrations of this oil on his hands or face and he touches the baby...then yes technically she could be exposed to residual oils that contain THC.

In either case...he's a daddy now...high school is over...why is he still smokin the doobies?

My husband used to smoke it...he quit when I got pregnant...its just the responsible thing to do...

Whatever you do..don't let him handle the baby or drive the car while loaded...it's just not safe.

His reflexes are impared when he smokes.

If he's not going to quit, just be careful.

Good Luck

Ok lisen I use to smoke when I was younger and I have never heard that from anyone not even my doctor or my daughters doctor. The only reason I asked her doctor was because my boyfrined at the time she was born smoked eventhought I didnt and hadnt smoked in over 2 years. I didnt care if he did as long as he was out of the house. The only thing that I have heard can hurt a kid is second hand smoke and a parent who cant take care of there kid while under the infulence!!!!

Being around any kind of smoke, even just the smoke smell left on his clothes is not good for her.

I don't have anything against pot-smokers ( I used to smoke, too) but now that I have a baby, I would never allow anyone who does drugs around my child. - Even if he were her father.

Ummm.... no. That is dumb. BUT he can not be allowed to be around her when he is high, or smoke anywhere near her. Or even in the house. It lingers and she could breathe it. Its too risky!!

Also, you should evaluate how you feel about him doing this now that he has a child. I'm not against weed, but once you become a parent things change and you can't do stuff like that anymore. You put your kid at risk.

Not likely, I have never heard of that. Some drugs can get into your system through skin contact, Think about the nicotine patch, and pain patches. I would not think that a simple kiss from her dad would do it though, as long as she is not breathing it in. I could be wrong, but I have never heard of it.

I have not even heard of pot causing smokers a lot of harm. Unlike cigarettes or alcohol, and the rest of those nice legal, cancer causing additions we have in our society

It probaly would not harm your little one if your boyfriend kisses her on the cheek. However, Get rid of the boyfriend! He needs to grow up and stop smoking! Time to become a responsible adult and positive role model for your little girl.

kissing someone after you have smoked has no effect on the person they are kissing. i would try not letting him smoke pot first. if anyone finds out, they could take your child away.
