Build inbound links to your website.
Most of the directories online charge a one time fee to review your site and add it to their index. Here are three of my favorites:

The more inbound links to your site, the better you will rank
with Yahoo / Google / MSN.

Ahhh there is a trick you will have to do some looking, but basically what you do is find other webmasters who are looking to get more activity in their forums too.
So then when you find some, you need to check out their forums and see if you could contribute to theirs via posting, then ask those webmasters if they might trade with you, you leave a few contributory posts on their end and they help by doing so on yours. You can only leave a few posts each or it will look funny, and it has to be real contributions so evidently you have to do this with a fair number of other webmasters, I think there may even be a place or three on the Internet set up specifically for working out these kind of trades.
This will at least help your forum look like it has some activity, so when a lonely visitor happens by, he or she will be more likely to stay.

Oh yeah, and please get rid of your door page / enter page, that thing will cut down 25% of your traffic, sux but true.

promote it on Myspace, Facebook, Facebox, etc
get a bunch of friends on these websites and things will fall into place, or make a video advertisement that's funny and unique and upload it on youtube, and at the end say "log onto internationalhauntings.com for more" or something like that, good luck
