An IP address is assigned to you by your internet provider. Your computer does not assign it for you so you could hook up a different computer to your internet connection and you will still have the same IP address if you have a broadband connection or you will be assigned a new one if you have a dial up connection.

Yeah - you can keep the IP address. :)
It's a virtual number if you will, assigned by the network. So, it's not something physical to take out of the computer.

You really have no need to have it on another computer at all. But you can change it/copy it from Network connections in control panel, right click the connection you use and click the TCP/IP line then click "Configure"

The IP address is actually determined from a combination of your ISP's server and the router or modem that connects you.

ok, your IP address changes constantly. You can change it, but you can't keep it unless your Internet Provider uses what is called a static IP

in your registry editor..i think..click run and type in reg edit and it should pull up the registry editor...hope that helps!
