MSN better icons. Can change the skin color of the messager. And can appear offline when you're online.

I think AIM is for the younger people/teens. MSN is used overseas and has a lot more functions.

MSN is compatible with Yahoo (most features), which makes it a little more versatile. AIM is not compatible (they are stuck in the late '90's apparently). Therefore, you can chat with people who only use Yahoo, if you use MSN, but NOT with people on AOL (AIM). :)

aim is going for wanting to have a good conversation with somebody
but
msn is good if you want to cam with someone doesnt slow down your internet and has a bigger window then aim

msn is more better i use it to use video call with my family overseas I love it, i never thought of changing to aim
