Norton used to block ads really well, but apparently the newest versions lack that feature. Is there good ad blocking software out there and why do you recommend it?

I guess I should have been more clear that I'm not talking about pop-ups, just page ads.

first get firefox its the best better than internet explore and i think way better than opera
second you can't live alone with firefoxs pop up blocker
get an extension called adblock plus
then get the filter subscriptions it'll will help you out alot
you don't need a stupid anti virus or spyware or ad ware program dat cost you something to block ads
third get yahoo tool bar that will help adblock plus with pop ups
theres a special one for firefox
forth get AVG anti-virus free edition instead of norton
norton sucks and takes up 2 much cpu
AVG only takes up little
and only takes little when scanning
plus they have updates every day dats only like 17 kb
so not that bad compared to norton
plus AVG is good at catching virus it cleaned out my computer completely trust me if you do all this you'll get wat u want
Good Luck with your Ad Problems
this also includes page ads' 2
try it out
Good luck

If you getting ads popping up then you prolly have some kinda of adware running on your computer. If you do the Norton won't work on it cause it is a program running on your computer and you prolly clicked the allow button when i asked itf you wanna keep blocking or allow it to communicate over the web. First i would update my anti-adware/spyware software and run a scan for. If nothing then find the program and uninstall it

If you want to get rid of popups and annoying banners while you are surfing the net you can download AdBlock for free here http://gisgt.com/sw/eng/browser-3/adblock-2-0-9-15250.html?x=g2
It's the best program I've used so far

If you get the free Google Tool Bar, it has a good pop-up blocker + free version of Google Earth, Gmail(free), Bookmarks, Auto fill, for filling out forms; News links etc.

If you use firefox for your browser, it has a built in pop up blocker. I love firefox, it is a whole lot better than internet explorer.
