Way to overcome internet filter?

So, I've been at a boarding school for about a week now, and they have wi-fi, but also this annoying little filter/site-blocker! I THINK it's called dynablocker. It won't let me send email, but will let me recieve. That blows.

And also, it won't let me go to video gaming sites. Help?!

Before getting in trouble by hacking the system, I have an idea. Why not go to the person in charge and explain what you want to do and why? It might be a simple mistake on their part.

This would show maturity and respsonsibility which could help with other freedoms you may like in the future.
