Probably not! If you reread the description of the service, you will find that it probably says speeds up to! This is under ideal conditions which really dont exist! Speed also depends on other variables such as how fast the site is you are visiting, how far away it is, how many people are on your node, time of day, etc.

It will depend on a lot of factors but in any case, you should see a significant difference between 8mb & 2mb connections.

Your specific location is more of a problem for dsl than cable and you didn't mention which you're looking at. You're best bet is to call at talk with a rep...get the facts on actual guarenteed speeds vs potential speed. Also, check what the upstream bandwidth is as well.

First check the wiring inside your lacation, you can't go faster than whatever your LAN accepts.

As discussed they promise up to 8 Mbit/s Don't exepct to receive more than other users in your area (should be better than 2 any time though) and if it is bad, providers _should_ not offer the service (they may though)

In the end the server you are connecting to will decide how slow your connection is going to be.

(speed of internet is the speed of the slowest link starting with your computer and ending with the server providing data)

Also remember that the upload speed is usually lower.

it depends how far away you are from your local telephone junction box and the chances of getting 8meg is damned low
