I'm selling something on ebay for the first time. I'm using paypal or cashier check/money order as payment. If the buyer uses paypal, does it automatically credit my paypal account or do I have to do something?? But if they choose money order/cashier check, how will I know? Do they send me a message or do I need to ask?? I'm just not sure how to handle the payment. Help please!!

pay pal is the only way to go. it deposits right into your paypal account.

your next problem will be getting the money out of paypay so get the paypal debit card now. it's free and you will need it.

with paypal, you are notified through ebay and email and paypal that you have received payment and for which item.

if you do check or money order, you better put something in your item description the mentions "negotiating payment" within a certain number of days, because you will have to contact the buyer and make arrangements. i wouldn't do it.

i even block people who don't have paypal accounts because in the long run, you will have unpaid items, you are doing too much work for your money, and you are the one who has to pay again for item you need to relist for non-payment.

i only accept paypal because the buyer pays for it right when they win the bid, you dont have to do anything. there is an option to send and invoice but you don't even have to do that.

paypal does it all for you.

but definately get the paypal debit card now so you don't have to wait for your money.

For sellers on Ebay with a Paypal account, once your items sells on Ebay and the buyer pays with Paypal your Paypal account will automatically be credited with that amount less a sellers fee that Paypal charges. If the buyer elects to pay with a money order/cashier check, they may send you a message saying how they will pay. I recommend you put in your selling page that they should contact you within 3 days of the end of auction, their method of payment or just email them and ask how they plan on paying.

Hi. I have been buying and selling on ebay for a long time and have a rating over 360. For paypal, if the buyer sends you a notification of payment, you don't have to do anything. It will arrive in your paypal account. If they choose money order/check, they will need to tell you that in advance after the item has ended. The way we work it is to put in the listing:

Please contact within 24 hours to give payment choice. This way, you know what you are going to be getting almost immediately after it ends. Let them know, in your listing that they must contact you to set up arrangements for payments. Time frame, etc. Good luck!!

my ebay id is: mom2horseand2boys

check me out sometime!

I do not recommend accepting money orders or cashier's checks. They are the most common thing for scammers. Sometimes it will even appear that the check has "cleared," only to turn out a couple of months later (after you've shipped the item) that it was fake, and you'll owe the bank the money.

When you accept a Paypal payment, it automatically credits your Paypal account. You have to request them to transfer the money to your regular bank account if you want it there. This is a simple, free process that you can do online. Just follow the links after you've made a sale.

If they use paypal you will get an email from paypal letting you know you recieved a payment and it will be in your paypal account. If they are sending a money order/check you will not recieve anything telling you that unless they use ebay check out or you request them to email you with their payment method when you invoice them after the auction is over.

If they pay via paypal an email will show that they paid. They can pay via PayPal with an E-Check and you have to wait for it to clear before mailing...otherwise, with instant payment then you can mail immediately. With money order you should ask the buyer to email you if they are paying with this method on your invoice in the 'Notes' area. If you get a 'payment sent' on your Ebay account then they are paying via money order obviously, if you never recieved a PayPal Email

If they send via paypal- you will be sent a notification and funds will go right to your acct. If they are paying by check etc....well it depend on how smart the ppl are. There is a place to press on their end saying money has been sent- do they always do that? nnnnn no. Just make sure you don't send your goods b4 you get your money. It's really too bad you have to say that not days:) Good luck!

1) write in your eBay display that you accept only paypal, no money order

Money Order is the source of scam, avoid it

2) once yr customer paid, the money will go direct to your PayPal account within minutes

Yes it will go into your pay pal account but if they pay by check or money order eBay will let you know. Just remember that pay pal will charge a fee for the item you sell as well as eBay.

when they pay it will send you an email about the payment being made. it tells you how they paid. if they sent the money, or used paypal. if they sent it, then you wait til it comes...otherwise, transfer it to your bank...when it hits your bank mail the package!
